STAFFORDSHIRE CUP SEMI FINALS
Guy Smith 1-0 Tony Morrall Guy well worth the win, could have score more
Sean Bradbury 0-1 Mike Bradbury A close game, but Mike took his only chance, and Sean was too hurried in attack
STAFFORDSHIRE CUP FNAL
Guy Smith 1-0 Mike Bradbury Old rules, a cloth pitch and the big ball worked in Guy's favour as he suprised everyone with
his possession play and long range flicking. A rocket shot from a free kick proved to be the winner as perennial Staffs cup winner Mike was forced to spend much of the game defending Guy's attacks. Sofinally after an astonishing 46 years !! Guy finally lifts the Staffordshire Cup, England's oldest continuously contested competition. Well done Guy !!
SHROPSHIRE CUP SEMI FINALS
Guy Smith 0 - 0 Sean Bradbury * w.o.s 3-2 A very close game with few chances. Guy should have been favourite on the shoot-out but he flunked with weak shooting after proving pretty deadly earlier on in the day.Guy's goalie on sensational form.
Mike Bradbury 0*- 0 Tony Morrall *w.o.s 2-1 Tony held out against Mike who lobbed a point blank shot onto the crossbar (big ball blues!). Mike was always going to be favourite in a shoot out as goalkeeping is Tony's weak point.
SHROPSHIRE CUP FINAL
Mike Bradbury 2 - 0 Sean Bradbury No complaints here, as Mike scored his chances whilst Sean fluffed his. Good steady play from the Rugeley player was not matched in front of goal and Mike only had one shot to save. It might have been more if Mike had been on better form.
Few goals in a great day's play held in memory of Carl Bradbury, one of the Midland's greatest subbuteo players. His Leeds United team was used at the event, where home advantage saw veteran Guy Smith remain unbeaten in normal time over 6 games, to lift both the Clun Trophy and, after a staggering 46 years, the Staffordshire Cup. Hot favourite Mike Bradbury won the Shropshire Cup for the 3rd time to add to his 100+ lifetime trophy haul.
